If you are a member, then when you log in you may be asked if you wish to accept a cookie (if your browser is configured to ask), otherwise a cookie may be placed on your hard disk without permission, unless you have them disabled. A cookie is simply a file that contains some information set by a website, which can be used for a number of reasons, such as: tracking your movements on the site; storing personalised settings for appearance, language or content; or - as in this case - to store a "session key" which is used to identify when you are logged in to the site...

It is completely optional, but recommended as it can help increase the security and minimise the chance of getting logged out by accident. It is only temporary, when you close the browser it is deleted. It is not used for tracking purposes as mentioned above. And if you are not a member or don't log in, then no cookies will be used at all.

We do not store any personal information on the members of this site other than a valid Email address. We do not publish these Email addresses on the site or share them with any other party.

The webserver on which this site is hosted is configured to log activity, which we use for very basic analysis purposes (such as number of hits, monthly bandwidth use, etc.) But none of the raw data is made public or shared with anyone else.
